RMS Celebrates its Open House @ Port Road 2017
RMS Members Open House Event 2017
Fresh air. Stunning aircraft. Good food. These are the bits and pieces that lift the atmosphere of the event. But what really colours the RMS open house a spirited one is its members. They have come together to celebrate the inauguration day - a day all members of RMS will remember.
The day first starts slowly with folks setting up their aircraft for static display ranging from Gliders to Pattern Planes, World War Fighters to Jet Fighters and Sports Planes to a variety of Multicopters.
The calm of the crisp morning soon breaks with excitement as guests from various Authorities and members of the public quickly fill up the seats - brimming with curiosity about the whole event.
The anticipation is clear on the guests' faces as they watch some members and flight demostrators proudly let their beautiful aircrafts soar through the airspace. The audience is captivated by the wonderful performance, as if seeing planes for the very first time. Students from the National Technological University (Aerospace Society) also turn up for demostration flights, enhancing the fun-filled episode further with their scratch-build aircraft.
The club Vice President, Mr Mohsen Mandani, then unfolds the tale of how RMS came about humbly from the 50s and excelled to what we are today in his speech, thanking and appreciating that the hobby is only sustainable due to the efforts and contributions from the authorities and its members.
As noon nears, the Guest of Honour, Mr Arther Cheong (PBM), Chairman of Yuhua CCMC, arrives. The club President, Mr Kalvin Lim, then shows the guest around and later gives a heartfelt speech of appreciation to the guests, members and sponsors of the event and club.
The familiar sound of whipping propellers can soon be heard. The drone team has an ace up their sleeves indeed! They first start off with their race drones in well-coordinated sequences on the fast lane - simulating a real race! At the other corner a "Star Wars" fighter flies into scene by surprise. Little did the audience know that a drone can actually be converted into something so special.
Lunch is flavoured with chicken curry and other mouth-watering dishes, complete with refreshing drinks from the bar.
Meanwhile, Mr Kalvin Lim readies his giant scale Sports Jet for the next demostration flight. The eager crowd quickly gather around the Sports Jet to take some photographs while he sets up. The jet then takes off from the runway into a vertical climb! The spectators applaud excitedly as the jet sears through the sky in several stunning maneuvers.
Promptly, the lucky draw program starts. The lucky winners of the program are happy as a lark as they have won themselves some good things, thanks to the sponsors of these valuable items!
As the time has come to an end, Mr Arthur Cheong (PBM) expresses that the club is a great unity of passionate individuals from all walks of life and of all ages that come together to share thoughts and interests, living in harmony.RMS would like to show its heartfelt appreciation to all the guests, members, EXCO team and sponsors of this event.
