Radio Modellers Singapore (’RMS’) was formed in 1954 by former Cabinet Secretary the late Mr. Wong Chooi Sen and a pioneering group of local aeromodellers in order to enhance the enjoyment of this sport both technologically and socially.
Members of the club fly all types of R/C models from small electric trainer models, helicopters and electric EDFs to giant scale aerobatic models to jet turbine models.
The club has a 200 meter lawn runway, concrete helicopter landing pads, frequency control board, tent with tables, chairs and airplane stands for setting up of models and safety fencing.
In addition to these facilities, the club provides the ideal place for R/C enthusiasts to share and learn more about R/C, model building, setting up of R/C models and most importantly, to make new friends with the same interest - aeromodelling.
Experienced members have been appointed as the club instructors to impart their knowledge and experience to the other members. Members who have joined the club with no aeromodelling experience have become world class pilots, through the club's established training methodology, experienced instructors and knowledged widely shared among members.
RMS has members from as young as 6 years old to 90 years old. Aeromodelling can be enjoyed by people of all ages especially as a family hobby.
You will find aeromodelling educational and challenging. At times, aeromodelling requires a high level of determination and focus similar to that of a professional sportsman if one wants to become a world class R/C pilot.
RMS has members who represented Singapore regularly at world and regional FAI sanctioned competitions since 1989 in China, Austria, Poland, Ireland, US, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, France, Argentina, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, as either pilot, judge and jury. The experience and knowledge gained at these championship have enabled our members to do better each time at the meet.
Funfly, members-get-together, plyon racing and aerobatic competitions are just some of the events that RMS organised every year where members will come and pit their skills and have fun. |
